Meet Jim

Jim has been married to his wife, Peggy, for over 52 years. They have two children and one grandchild.

Jim Duke is a seasoned executive, educational leader, and public servant with a comprehensive background in business, education, and community governance.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Jim’s executive experience includes serving as President and CEO of both furniture and wood flooring manufacturing companies, as well as 17 years as a self-employed professional in sales and marketing. His industry leadership was further recognized through his roles as President of the National Oak Flooring Association and the Lumbermen’s Club of Memphis, where he was honored as “Lumberman of the Year”.
Jim has served as the Chairman of the University of Tennessee Legislative Council since 2012 and was previously the President of the UT National Alumni Association, representing over 400,000 members. His commitment to higher education is also reflected in his current service on the Dyersburg State Community College Foundation Board and his past role on the Presidential Search Advisory Committee for UT Knoxville.
Jim is deeply integrated into local government and economic development, currently serving as a Haywood County Commissioner and a board member for the Megasite Authority of West Tennessee. He is also an active board member for Vision Haywood, City of Brownsville Planning and the Brownsville/Haywood County Chamber of Commerce. A former member of the Tennessee National Guard, Mr. Duke has been recognized for his lifelong commitment to service with the annual University of Tennessee Service Award.
